Duties and Responsibilities:

Instruction of Thorsby High School Marching Band and after-school concert ensemble, Grades 8-12; marked improvements made in development of sound quality of individuals and ensemble, as well as incorporation of effective rehearsal and individual practicing techniques; remediation of students with no previous instrument-specific music instruction in brass, woodwind, and percussion through side-by-side practices and rehearsals

Successful completion of applications to multiple grants, resulting in thousands of dollars of rehearsal equipment, school-owned instruments, and instrument accessories.

Recruitment of 6th Grade Beginning Band, including creating rehearsal time during and after school from a difficult hybrid block-style schedule

Teaching two sections per semester of General Music to 7th and 8th Grade with emphasis in basic theory skills, world musical cultures, listening skills, and composition; also teaching a section of Elements of Fine Arts, comparing and contrasting elements of music and visual arts, and creation of original art; included audience etiquette and careers incorporating music
Achievements and Successes:

Band qualified for and received funds from the Peter R. Marsh Grant, a foundation grant that promotes involvement of Middle/High School-aged students through the performing arts with senior citizens in the community.
