Duties and Responsibilities:

Directed the High School Marching Band, grades 8-12; managed program with no public funding based on community donations and fundraising, reducing inherited program debt by over 75%; maintained WVSD and CDC recommended safety initiative, including social distancing, use of masks when not playing, temperature checks, and assisting the administration with tracking of individuals who have exhibited symptoms to reduce spread.

Directed the High School Concert Band, grades 8-12; prepared students with fundamental training in reading rhythmic passages, including syncopation, properly counted and synthesized, as well as training in the art of musicality and phrasing, articulation, and development of a well-balanced and blended ensemble.

Taught 7th/8th Grade Intermediate Band, primarily for students who were in Beginner Band during the 2019-2020 Academic Year, which was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Instructed two sections of high school general music, which include units on music theory, music history, and music as it pertains to culture of the past and present

Recruited 6th Grade Beginning Band students at Davidson Elementary in January 2021, despite the intent to wait until the following school year

Assisted students in preparation for auditions for Honor Bands, Competitions, and College Scholarships
Achievements and Successes:

Successfully fundraised enough to cover previous program uniform and instrument repair debts, in addition to funding the following year's Marching Band show preparation and band camp needs.

Two students participated in Northwest Community College Honor Band Clinic

One student participated in the William Carey Honor Band Clinic
